Character roster

Let's have a brief look at the important people in this ongoing story. Hopefully some of their players will chime in with more details.

Player Characters:

Apple
The man who goes by the name Apple is more at home in the wilderness than in the city. He has eked out a nomadic life for years as a wilderness guide for caravans and travelers between towns, and also as a journeyman bowyer. Both brave and brash, he's always up for an adventure.

He came to Bard's Gate for the excitement of the Carnival of Swords and hoping that he could make a few harps (Bard's Gate lingo for a gold piece) as a trail guide for someone leaving the city after the carnival. Upon his arrival, he sold a few bows to the owner of a new general store, Osborne Highhill.

Ash
Ash has spent the past year in the city training to be a fighter at the Society of Arms fighter's guild. He has just completed his training and is eager to make his mark upon the world. His father was a blacksmith in a northern village, and Ash came to Bard's Gate to practice his trade and learn to fight after his father's "death by hill giant" in their village. He has vowed to one day seek out the giant and avenge his father's death.

For Ash, the Carnival is just another excuse to drink for three days straight. Now that he has completed his training, the guildmaster can farm him out as a guard to anyone seeking competent warriors. And those warriors trained at the Society of Arms are nothing if not competent with a weapon.

Cadeuseus
"Cadie," as she is typically known, is a gnomish herbalist with a new lease on life. She left her previous village after the villagers decided that even her impressive herbal skills were not enough to explain her return from the grave. Not believing her story about having been buried alive, the village leaders informed Cadie that she was no longer welcome there. After her brush with the grave, she has devoted herself to the worship of Nature and life.

Cadie arrived in Bard's Gate the week prior to the Carnival and mostly remained primarily in the locale known as Tent City outside of the city proper. She is just looking for a new direction in life.

Senodius
A young yogic disciple from a distant land, Senodius was sent to Bard's Gate by his yogic master to find his destiny. The master told Senodius that the distant, free-spirited city would offer him many challenges, but also would impart to him his true calling, if he were of mind to hear it.

Essentially, there was nothing more his master could teach him, so he sent the young man on his way, to discover what life had in store for the young renunciant.

Important Non-Player Characters
Alanna Kirk, innkeeper and owner of the Green Dragon Inn. Her inn has become the party's headquarters, for the time being at least. Alanna is an attractive human woman in her late 30's. She runs her inn and tavern with a no-nonsense attitude and expects proper behavior from her guests. She doesn't put up with rudeness or violence. The food and rooms at the Green Dragon are good and fairly priced.

Derek Santoro, constable of Bard's Gate. Santoro is a streetwise gumshoe. The rank of constable is similar to what we think of as a vice cop or police detective. Whereas normal members of the Watch focus on just one district, Santoro's beat is the entire city of Bard's Gate. He goes where the crimes lead him. If Bard's Gate had trenchcoats, he'd always be wearing one. Instead he wears a constant sundown-shadow of beard and his constable's uniform of brown tabard emblazoned with a white lyre and a short, waist-length, brown cape. He is a shrewd judge of character.

Garak Mag, sergeant of the constabulary. Sergeant Mag is Santoro's right-hand man. A hobgoblin of highest moral character and honor, he's known for his frowning eyebrows and large sword.
